This page is a work in progress, utilizing Ch. 28 of Education for a Digital World, Online Collaboration: An Overview, as a springboard. With rapid development and expansion of technological infrastructures, possibilities for harnessing technology to enable collaboration are expanding. Yet, as we move to take advantage of these possibilities, we encounter new challenges and discover unexpected complexities in fostering [and facilitating] collaborative endeavours. In this chapter we ... [revisit] the notion of collaborative learning from theoretical as well as practical perspectives. [We continue] ... to distinguish collaborative from cooperative learning, [which] ... , although collective ..., is not necessarily collaborative [in the deepest senses of the word]. We ... [reexamine efforts] to foster [and facilitate] collaboration, ... [with an eye out for new possibilities readily] transferable to [blended and] online learning and working environments. ... [This] chapter concludes with stories and reflections representing [blended and] online educational collaboration from learners' and educators' perspectives.
